NEET 2013 Analysis...

The overall NEET 2013 exam paper quality can be rated as good. The questions asked in NEET-2013
are above average standard. If we talk about Physics, the level of questions is relatively higher than the
previous year AIPMT exam. Although the exam is based on NCERT, however some questions are out of
scope of NCERT syllabus. Question are asked from almost all chapters equally except the chapters like
Oscillations. Additionally, one question is out of the topics specified in NEET-2013 syllabus (i.e. rolling of
body without slipping). Standard of the paper is above the NCERT standards.
With respect to the Chemistry paper, it was a typical medical entrance exam test paper. Equal weightage
was given to all the three sections i.e., Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. There were less
number of questions involving lengthy calculations rather more questions were of deep understanding
level. A student having a very sound knowledge of basic concepts would score good marks. Although
questions similar to questions given in standard NCERT book were asked but some of the good quality
questions asked in the paper were from outside sources also. Students equipped with focused guidance
for NEET would be able to crack this examination comfortably.
As far as Biology portion is concerned, the questions were of good competitive level. The questions and
diagrams used in the paper are broadly from the NCERT. However, in some questions the statements
given have some discrepancies. Some statements though, have been rectified in the new edition of
NCERT, but the question framed seemed to be from the old edition with incorrect information. This has
created confusion among the students. Some of the examples mentioned have not been mentioned in
current edition of NCERT. For such questions, the student should be given the due benefit. Otherwise,
the question paper has been largely appreciated among the students.
